Paint A Rose Workshop: Feb 10 -6-9 PM (Flyer above)

Intro to Drawing/Painting: Friday 630-830

This class introduces the student to the classical principals of drawing and develops their ability to see relationships while gradually training both eye and hand. Acquiring the fundamental skills of drawing the student then develops their ability to draw representationally and discover their own visual vocabulary and style. Class exercises will familiarize participants with media and technique. We will use graphite, chalk, oil pastel, colored pencil, charcoal, pen and ink. Essential elements of visual representation, shape, size and placement are emphasized while learning about line, texture, value, composition, contrast, structure and perspective. Drawing method also will include breaking forms into smaller shapes. Classes are small and taught on individualized basis according to skill and experience. They are also customized to support student interests and abilities. As a precursor to painting, the student will move from sketching to painting at the pace appropriate for them. Color theory and selection will be taught. Mixing colors will be shown and the same principals used in drawing will be applied in painting. Color in relation to tone (light and dark) will be explored. Brush techniques will also be covered.   Beginners are welcome.
